Product Inception begins ENVISION's supply chain process. Design concepts are created, refined, and confirmed. Design variations are created and sourcing partners selected. Costing Results are analyzed. Chosen Design Variations are automatically converted to robust Purchase Orders, Production Specifications, and Supplier Contracts. Workflow Activities are carefully monitored through all phases of Product Inception.
ENVISION's supply chain workflow begins when product concept and merchandising ideas are transformed into production specifications. Adding components, colors, sizes, fabrics, and accessories converts concepts into Product Designs. Design details such as size specifications, size tolerances, and product sketches are retained in ENVISION's design repository for reference and re-use.
Resources and Bills of Material
ENVISION's comprehensive Resource master retains a databank of components required to produce designs. Resources, like fabric, labor, or accessories, are organized into resource groups and categories for easy assignment to designs. Resource templates facilitate associating multiple resources that share similar usage. ENVISION employs its vast Resource databank to generate accurate production specifications and Bills of Material for your suppliers.
Design costing is the next step in ENVISION's workflow. Cost Inquiries, variations of the base designs, may be modified to generate multiple cost requests based on factors such as variable duty percentages associated with CVC or TC fabrics, ornamentation selections, or labor differentials.
ENVISION will generate multiple RFQ's per design to accommodate resource
groups associated with multiple vendors. Cost Inquiry information is shared with vendors via ENVISION's e-communication method or through more conventional methods facilitating timely and accurate Cost Results.
ENVISION employs user-defined costing models for tremendous flexibility when working with domestic and foreign vendors, vendors in non-MFN countries, or those enrolled in offshore programs. Costing models, tailored specifically to your organization's costing requirements, identify elements such as duty, freight, commissions, broker fees , and inbound handling charges.
Costing Results Analysis
As Costing Results are entered into ENVISION from local or foreign sources, production locations and partners become clear. Even at this early stage, anticipated landing costs and royalty fees can be added to aid in establishing selling prices based on pre-defined markup percentages.
Cost Inquiry Conversion
Once Costing Results have been analyzed, you can invoke ENVISION's Purchase Order wizard to convert approved Cost Inquiries into live Purchase Orders. At this stage, final decisions are made to indicate fabric, ornamentation, and labor providers. Once merchandise delivery and UPC requirements are entered, Purchase Orders are automatically generated. An entry for your new inventory item is also automatically created in ENVISION's Item Master. Contracts based on Purchase Orders are then communicated to selected vendors via e-mail or hard copy reports.
ENVISION's Activity Tracking manages the small yet essential tasks that are integral links in the supply chain. From lab dips and strike offs to sample requests and approvals, Activity Tracking becomes the focal point on both sides of the vendor partnership. Activities are user defined and only bounded by your desire to track them and can be organized into templates and template groups to expedite entry. Activities associated with Cost Inquires and Purchase Orders are maintained throughout the entire production lifecycle.
ENVISION monitors measurement points, size specifications, and tolerable size variance to accurately determine materials consumption and to comply with vendor specifications. When samples are produced, ENVISION tracks actual measurements to facilitate comparison with size specification templates while assuring adherence to your own internal requirements. ENVISION streamlines the creation of size specifications by automatically grading sizes and by grouping templates for reuse in the product inception phase.
Quotas and Duties
Product classification is essential to determining proper quota categories and duty rates. ENVISION's Harmonized Tariff System master allows you to associate quota categories, gender, commodity, and import duties with standard HTS codes. The codes are then associated with design variations and Purchase Orders to facilitate quota tracking and duty liability during the customs process. ENVISION employs this information to provide accurate estimates of landing costs giving you the knowledge you need to make profitable production decisions.
